Koola Buck Heavy Duty Game Bags

Overview

Anywhere you hunt requiring you to pack out the game or leave quarters hanging overnight, you must have good game bags to keep your meat from spoiling or getting contaminated during extraction. I have used the Koola Buck 2X heavy duty game bags for elk hunting, whitetail, and nilgai hunting on public land and packed out three large animals with these bags in the last 12 months, including an elk that I had to leave hanging overnight for a two day pack out. These bags held up very well and are well worth the money.

Key Product Feautres

Koola Buck Heavy Duty Elk Quarter Game Bags XL

$24.99
  •  16” W x 60” L size and stretchable
  • Made with a strong cotton and polyester blend
  • Vacuum packed to take up minimal room in your field pack
  • You can also get smaller sizes and antimicrobial options from the same manufacturer
  • Less than 2 pounds overall weight

What we liked:

These bags are plenty big for any elk quarters and highly durable. I could hang elk hind quarters in these bags overnight, and even with some sharp bone ends exposed, these bags did not rip. The vacuum-sealed packages allow the bags to sit in the bottom of my field pack, taking up minimal space, and they are very lightweight.

Who we think will like this product:

Anyone needing to pack out game, or that would need to hang game overnight.

Pro tips:

  • We took some extra time to debone some of the elk quarters, and by doing this, we could fit the entire quartered elk into the 4 bags that came in a single package
  • We probably still could have fit the entire bone-in quarters into the 4 bags, but deboning also cut down on weight, and especially with the front shoulders, a large percentage of weight is bone

Pros

  • Large bags with plenty of room for quarters
  • I could even tie a large knot at the top of the bag to hang in a tree, and there was still 1 to 2 feet of extra bag left
  • Very strong material that allows meat to breathe but keeps bugs and insects out
  • Vacuum-sealed packaging takes up minimal space in your pack

Cons

  • Large bags with plenty of room for quarters
  • I could even tie a large knot at the top of the bag to hang in a tree, and there was still 1 to 2 feet of extra bag left
  • Very strong material that allows meat to breathe but keeps bugs and insects out
